Hardware and Software Requirements
You must have an active account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP) before starting the program. Students may use either a IBM-compatible PC or Apple/Macintosh computer for their online studies. The following are the minimum computer system requirements. For browser and plug-in requirements please link to (webct.com/tuneup).
IBM-compatible PC
Pentium IV processor or higher, Core processor recommended. Windows XP or higher. 1024 Megabytes of RAM (or higher) 56k Dialup (or faster, recommended) internet connection through an account on an ISP (Internet Service Provider). Flash Storage/CD-ROM/Hard Drive Full Duplex Sound card with speakers/headphones and microphone 1024x768 or higher display resolution, thousands of colors.
Macintosh
G3 processor or higher, Intel processor recommended. System 10.4 or higher operating system 1024 Megabytes of RAM (or higher) Full Duplex Sound with a microphone 56k Dialup (or faster, recommended) internet connection through an account on an ISP (Internet Service Provider). Flash Storage/CD-ROM/Hard Drive 1024x768 or higher display resolution, thousands of colors.
Software
Supported versions are Netscape 4.76 and 6.2.x, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or newer, or Safari 2.0 or newer; unsupported versions are Netscape 6.0 and 6.1, Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and 5.5 service pack 1, and Safari 1.x to 1.3.x. Suggested: Check with course instructor for specific software requirements, particularly BCT Lab and CIS courses. However for most courses Microsoft Office 2003 (or higher) or Microsoft Office 2004:Mac Edition is suggested. If you use other "office" type programs, please note that some professors may require you to convert your files to a MS-Office compatible format or Rich Text Format (.RTF) for online submission.
What if I have trouble with the technology? How do I get assistance? … You can contact the Galesburg campus help desk. The Help Desk is open between 8am and 9pm Monday through Thursday and 8am and 4pm on Fridays during spring and fall semesters and between 8am and 4pm during summer semesters.
